Inclusion Reviews & Evaluations

Many organisations aspire to improve equity but don’t know where to start or where the issues lie. Inclusion reviews and evaluations can help bring clarity around issues and challenges. They can also be utilised to inform future work and action.

Whilst inclusion reviews offer a general organisational reflection about the organisational status and challenges, evaluations look at a specific area of work or project.

Dr Addy delivers bespoke designs reviews, and evaluations for the client. However, they are likely to include data and document analysis, key person interviews, focus groups and workshops. Internal and external reports can be produced from the data.

Action Research

Action Research is a means of connecting knowledge and action and bridging the practice-theory gap. Typically, it refers to a process where knowledge is informed by real-world action and created for creating real-world action.

The action research cycle is central to the approach. In simple terms, the cycle begins when a real-world issue is identified and collaboratively explored. The knowledge created in the first part of the action research cycle is then utilised to plan and implement action. Following the action, collaborative reflection takes place, and the cycle begins again.

Organisational Development can be viewed as a location-based form of action research which is focused upon organisational change.

Action Research always combines knowledge creation and action, but it takes many different forms, so it can be difficult to define. In academic settings, the emphasis tends to be on the research or knowledge creation part. In business and community-based settings, emphasis is often on the action.

A wide range of methods have been successfully utilised in the action research process, from informal group work discussions to quantitative surveys.

If you or your organisation has a complex social issue you wish to address, we will schedule an initial meeting to explore a range of possibilities. After being informed of your needs, aspirations, timeframe and budget, Dr Addy will design a tailored action research approach.

Action research is impactful, but it does require time, resources and organisational commitment. If we do not believe that the proposed timeframe or budget is viable, we will let you know and suggest an alternative.
